THEMATIC WORKSHOP No. 1

We went to Zlaté Hory, Kaňk and Stráž pod Ralskem, where we collected water samples from mine runoff before and after treatment, as well as samples from tailings pond runoff. Our task is to analyse the chemical and microbiological parameters of these waters. The whole SURRI team, including members from Italy and the UK, were working on this fieldwork.

We would like to share with you the current action of our SURRI (Sustainable Remediation Of Radionuclide Impacts On Land And Critical Materials Recovery) team.

Today we went to Zlaté Hory where we collected water samples from mine runoff before and after treatment, as well as samples from tailings pond runoff. Our task is to analyse the chemical and microbiological parameters of these waters.

We have identified several sites for our terrain research. Now in Zlaté Hory we have decided to focus on the presence of gold and zinc in the water and their possible remediation. It is great that we found a suitable site, although unfortunately we did not get directly into the adits this time. We plan to do this on our next visit.

Our work is important because we are trying to contribute to sustainable remediation and integrate the available resources. We want to protect the environment while finding innovative ways to extract valuable raw materials from these water resources.

The whole SURRI team, including members from Italy and the UK, is working on this fieldwork. We learn new practices from each other and want to contribute to a sustainable future. Don't forget to follow us.
