In the last week of October (23rd – 25th), members of the SURRI project team visited the Italian project partner, the La Sapienza University in Rome (SAP).
On Wednesday the Project Meeting started, all Work Packages were introduced by the leaders and discussed with all team (in person and also online). In the afternoon, the discussion continued with Advisory Board members. On Thursday, the first day of the Workshop within the SURRI project took place, where participants from TUL, UGR, and SAP presented topics related to the project (e.g. impact of microorganisms on DGR, lithium-ion battery recycling, metal removal using waste materials, etc.). A second day of the Workshop continued on Friday when external experts from SOGIN (an Italian state-owned enterprise responsible for nuclear decommissioning) and ISPRA (Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) presented the current situation of SURRI topics in Italy. Prof. Marco Petrangeli Papini prepared three huge days of interesting lectures, including the reach social program in Rome (e.g. a guided visit to St. Peter Cathedral). All participants really enjoy their stay in Rome!
